Verification for BL (BOL)

The Bill of Lading also called BL or BOL or B/L, and Airway Bill known as “AWB” is a critical legal document in international shipping, which is issued by the shipping company to shipper/exporter, acting as a receipt of goods & document of title. The BL contains details the cargo goods, route, and consignee detail, allowing the holder to claim ownership of goods upon arrival at destination port. Inaccurate, missing, or unsigned BL can cause cargo losses, or legal issues regarding liability.
The fake Bill of Lading is a forged or altered document used to misrepresent cargo ownership, value, or shipping details. Misrepresenting cargo types or origins on the BL to evade import duties, quotas, or sanctions.
Fraudsters typically produce or alter real Bill of Lading: by using PDF editors or online tools to change details like dates, cargo descriptions, or consignee names on legitimate documents. Fraudsters also create multiple original-looking BLs for a single shipment to sell the same cargo twice or multiple times to the victims. Creating or using a fake BL is a serious crime in Japan. it can lead to prosecution under Japanese law, resulting in huge amount fines, heavy penalties and imprisonment.
Some cases were reported about altering or using counterfeit or forged Bill of Lading. To avoid risk of fake or altered/forged BL, Japan Inspection Organization issued a verification certificate that verify that the Bill of lading issued in Japan is genuine without any illegal alteration or forgery. The purpose of “Certificate of Verification” is to ensure that contents of BL are correct and authenticated.
To ensure the authentication of bill of lading, the certificate of verification will be duly Attested by the “Japan Anti Fraud Organization “JAFO”. The ”verification certificate” will be issue within 3-5 working days after receiving official appilication.
