Motor Vehicles Recall in Japan for January-February 2026

As of early 2026, there are several vehicle recalls issued by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport, and Tourism (MLIT) in Japan. Some of the major vehicle recalls in 2026 include Mitsubishi Fuso trucks, Isuzu commercial vehicles, and various import/domestic vehicle models.

Key MLIT Japan Recalls (Jan-Feb 2026):

  • Mitsubishi Fuso Truck and Bus Corporation (Jan 22, 2026): Over 1,000 units of Mitsubishi Fuso Canter recalled, as the independent suspension upper arm shaft is found to be weakened, which can lead to breakage and damage of brake pipes.
  • Isuzu Motors Limited (Jan 22, 2026): Forward and Condor series of commercial vehicles recalled, as the drag links are found to have been installed in the wrong position, i.e., front and rear are swapped.
  • BMW Japan (Jan 28, 2026): Recalled front seat belt retractors with faulty torsion bars.
  • Citroen (Jan 30, 2026): Safety/pollution recall campaign (Gai-4149).
  • Bentley Motors (Jan 13, 2026): High voltage battery module defects, which can cause fires.
  • Yamaha Motor Co., Ltd. (Jan 13, 2026): Recalled various vehicle models, as there are problems with the OBD system, i.e., the engine control unit does not comply.
